Registration
Registration is currently underway.  We have baseball programs for grades Pre-K through 12, and softball programs for grades Pre-K through 10.  Pre-K players must reach their 4th birthday by April 30.  This is a firm rule with no exceptions.  4-year-old players may be requested to provide proof of age.

Registrations received through March 17, 2024 will be guaranteed a position on a roster.  After March 17, 2024, online registration will remain open, however, all registrants after March 17 will be subject to the registration freeze described below and a $10 late registration fee.  Please note:  Some divisions are subject to being wait listed prior to the March 17 cutoff to ensure that we can place all players.  Players who are signed up for the wait list prior to the cutoff will not be subject to the late fee.  Any division which has been wait listed will show a "Join wait list" icon instead of a "Register Now" icon.


Registration Freeze
If you do not register by March 17, 2024, there will be a registration freeze.  This is something we must do in order to be able to ensure that all of our registered players are placed on a team and that we have secured enough coaches.  Inquiries for registration beyond March 17th will be placed on a waiting list in the order in which they were received.  A description of the late registration process will be on the website as the time nears.  Sending multiple emails regarding the same player will only delay the process.  Although you may not hear from us right away, please know that we make every effort to have every child placed.  To join the wait list, you complete all steps the normal registration process except for making payment.  If/when you are removed from the wait list, you will receive an additional email from us requesting that you complete the registration process and make the required payment.  Only upon completing the registration process and making payment will a waitlisted player be placed on a team.  Upon being released from the waitlist, payment must be made within 24 hours, or we will move on to the next child on the list.


2024 Season
The season begins on Saturday April 20, 2024 with our Opening Day Parade.  We register through mid-March, and then hold a meeting for our managers at the end of March.  You should be contacted by your manager by the first week in April.  If you haven't been contacted by then, please send an email to [email protected] with "No Call" in the subject line. 

Practices
Prior to Opening Day, your team will have one or two practices.  Uniforms will be distributed by the manager at one of those practices.  During the season, practice days/times are at the discretion of the coach.


Uniforms & Equipment
Each player will be issued a uniform by SYAG, consisting of a hat, shirt, and pants (spring season).  The uniform is yours to keep at the end of the season.  Children are permitted to wear rubber cleats or sneakers while playing.  Metal spikes are prohibited.  Players are required to have their own bat, glove, and helmet. We no longer issue a set of "community helmets" for the team to share. Please see the bat rules section of the website for further information about which bats are permissible.  Summer season participants are issued a uniform shirt.

Parade & Opening Day
Players march into the season at our Opening Day parade on Saturday, April 20.  Players assemble with their team at Samoset Middle School beginning at 11:00am.  Marching commences at 11:30, traveling east on School St, making a right onto northbound Gatelot Ave, then a right onto Smith Rd, and finally into Smith Road Park for the Opening Day ceremonies. Each team may make a banner that they will carry in the parade, and during the opening ceremonies, Quackerjack from the Long Island Ducks will pick his favorites!

Families are encouraged to park at Samoset Middle School. Following the parade, you can exit out of the rear of Smith Road Park Field #4 for a short walk back to Samoset. There is a walkway that runs from the rear of Smith Road Park back to Samoset.


Game Days and fees
Game days are listed below.  All games for ages 4,5 & 6 baseball & softball begin at 6:00 pm.  In all other divisions, weekday games start at 5:30 pm in April, and 6:00 pm in May & June.  Saturday times have not yet been determined.  Most teams will also play a game on Opening Day, Saturday, April 20.
 

Fields
SYAG has a four-field complex next to Sachem High School North on Smith Road in Lake Ronkonkoma. Additionally, we utilize fields throughout the Sachem School District as well as Holbrook Country Club.  Field assignments take some time to schedule and finalize.  Your coach will have the information available for you at one of the preseason practices.
